Big Butterfly Count 2021: It’s not too late to take part

The Big Butterfly Count is a UK-wide survey aimed at helping Butterfly Conservation (BC) assess the health of our environment simply by counting the amount and type of butterflies (and some day-flying moths) we see.

It’s not too late to take part in this year’s Big Butterfly Count, which runs until 8th August 2021.

If you want to use the Big Butterfly Count App to take part then you can download it and submit your sightings during the Count period

As a conservation charity, BC appreciate any donations towards protecting butterflies, moths and the environment for future generations.

Step 1: Get ready
Download the handy butterfly ID chart or free App for iOS and Android to identify and record the butterflies you spot.

Step 2: Join in
Between now and Sunday 8th August choose a place to spot butterflies and moths. Watch for 15 minutes. Then record which species you see in Step 3.

Step 3: Add your counts
Add your counts here on the Website or via the App and look at the fascinating interactive map to see how your data is contributing to conservation science and research.

Sign up to Butterfly Conservation’s free newsletter to stay updated or support our charity with a membership or donation.
