Biomass Plant: Another Extension Proposed For Real Ventures

A proposal to extend the preferred bidder status for the Stag Lane Renewable Energy Site, again, is due to go before the Cabinet next week.

Biomass plant plansReaders will remember that Real Ventures Ltd had already been given an 15 month extension – due to run out in July – and is now looking for a further 12 months.

Delegated Decision powers for future extensions
As well as agreeing the extension to the preferred bidder status, the Cabinet will be asked to approve a motion allowing the Cabinet member to extend the preferred bidder status timescale, under delegated powers, thereafter, if required.

The justification for the 12 month extension is to “enable environmental investigations and design work sufficient for the submission of a planning application.”

Secure a purchase option for the site
Real Ventures say in their letter, “Further to this, we request that, subject to the extension of the exclusive position, we immediately enter into negotiations with the Council to secure a purchase option for the site.

“We suggest that option should be valid for 2 years and that together we should look to complete negotiations and take the option to signing within a three month period (and prior to the final preparation of the planning application).”

Real Ventures also advise in the letter (embedded below for your convenience) that they have negotiated a lease option with Queen’s College Oxford for additional land required for the fuel conveyor route from the River Medina.
