Quay Arts is looking to forward to hosting the premiere launch of Bloom ~ Living Mandalas – a multimedia performance exploring the mandala form, composed by Echo Mazur. At its simplest, a mandala is a circle or a symmetry radiating in all directions from a single point.
This form is found in our natural world from the pattern of our solar system right down to the cells in our body. It is present in our eyes, in fruit, in flowers, in snowflakes and tree trunks. For centuries, humankind has replicated forms found in nature to create a meditation tool and healing experience.
Set to a score of original music by Echo Mazur, Bloom features prairie wildflowers from her homeland of Saskatchewan and mandala artists from Canada, the US, Tibet, Europe and the Isle of Wight. Echo will be performing live on the clarinet and with the more exotic tones of the singing bowl, ocarina, African kora and Balinese tingklik and gender.
