Blue-Eyed Boys is a series of monumental portraits of gay men from the ‘Bear’ world.

Blue Eyed Boys: Nick Martin They represent an alternative vision of gay male beauty which celebrates men who are large, bearded and older.

Nicholas Martin’s large-scale oil paintings draw inspiration from Renaissance portraiture by producing incredibly life-like portraits and often reference Holbein.

Martin has exhibited at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery and his work will be accompanied by miniature portraits (below) by Brighton Artist; Russell Webb; juxtaposing the scale of Martin’s paintings in the Michael West Gallery Annex.

Russell WebbThe drinks reception will take place on Saturday 7 March between 2-4pm. Everyone is welcome.

There is also a free talk on Thursday 12 march between 6-8pm.
