Isle of Wight Conservative MP, Bob Seely, had to be told to ‘keep the temper down’ on Politics Live today (Monday), by the programme’s host, Jo Coburn.
The Politics Live panel were discussing the remarks, labelled racist by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, made by Conservative donor, Frank Hester and whether the Conservative Party should return the £10m he’d already donated, and halt the further £5m that is reported as being processed at the moment.
Some might find it ironic that a short while before the MP was told to ‘calm down’, he’d been quoting lines from Rudyard Kipling’s poem If:
“If you can keep your head, when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you…”
Adding that he wished some of his colleagues could remember that poem.
“Keep the temper down”
Less than 20 minutes later, about 33 minutes into today’s show, Jo Coburn had to say,
“Alright Bob. Alright Bob. Keep the temper down.”
When asked whether Bob thought the millions should be returned , he replied that Frank Hester had,
“Apologised.”
The host pointed out to him that Hester had apologised for being rude, but not apologised for being racist or making racist remarks.
Bob is a regular on Politics Live, where he often appears to have free reign to interrupt other panellists, while objecting if others do the same to him.
