Body Formally Identified As Missing Man

Police can confirm a body found on a beach at Freshwater Bay on Monday, April 4, 2011 was formally identified on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 as missing man Ian David Lanfear, aged 45, of Victoria Road, Freshwater, Isle of Wight.

The death is not being treated as suspicious. Next-of-kin and HM Coroner have been informed. An inquest was opened and adjourned by HM Coroner for the Isle of Wight John Matthews today (Wednesday, April 6, 2011).

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the last known movements of Ian David Lanfear. He was reported missing after leaving his home address in Freshwater at approximately 10am on Sunday, April 3, 2011.

Anyone who saw Mr Lanfear on Sunday is asked to phone Newport Police Station on 101 or 0845 045 45 45. Mini-com users can call 01962 875000.

He was described as:

â–ª Short dark hair, which is receeding

He was last seen wearing:
