Bound to Make Blast Fast

Bound to make blast fast as I cast past. Make these words my very last so I can sound cool. An adder on the ladder off the bottom rung. Born to auto focus before time begun.

A first solo exhibition for The Bees’ songwriter, Aaron Fletcher featuring a series of paintings using blue, red, white and yellow house paint and black gloss on canvas.

Bound to Make Blast Fast has been a project that Aaron has been working on since the first Shopping Trolley (Quay Arts Live Art Club) event in October 2004.

Aaron says: “I wanted to set myself a project where I was to be creative in a new medium with a new subject matter – a pleasantly simple solution with a main theme of transport, a limit to colour, snapshot framing and loose mark making was conceived.”

Aaron paints in a primitive way and uses observations of subject matter that come across from his interest in cranes, trucks and ships. Style wise, the works are bold and simple evoking memories of Fisher Price toys and Saturday tea time watching the A-Team – the choice of paint colour comes from each room of his house.

Aaron who is 28 and lives in Ventnor, studied Fine Art Printmaking at Winchester School of Art 1997-2001 where he focused mainly on abstract design through print, stencil and drawing. Imagery that is formed instantly and spontaneously interests him the most.
