Members of Hampshire Constabulary and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service recently took part in the Blue Light Fight Night at Cowes Yacht Haven (11th October 2014)

Despite an excellent effort from Team Police, Team Fire retained The Joe Ellis Memorial Trophy, winning the fights 6-3.

As well as attending Ventnor and Newport Boxing Clubs alongside members of Team Fire, Team Police were able to use the facilities at Ryde Boxing Club, which is situated across the road from Ryde Police Station and the team collected separate contributions and will be presenting a cheque for £300 as a way of showing their appreciation and support of the local boxing club.

Marc Sayer, a coach at Ryde Boxing Club said:

“The club would like to thank Team Police for the money as it will be being used for new equipment, which is urgently needed.”

Team Police spokesman PCSO Neil Harris said,

“It has been great to use the facilities and have all the team training together. There has been a real buzz and even though training was hard work, it was great fun too.”
