Congratulations to Cowes sailor, Brian Thompson who, this morning, took fifth place in the non stop solo around the world race, the Vendee Globe.
The race started back in November 2008 and by all accounts, it sounds like it has been a roller coaster of a ride for Brian.
Readers might remember that at the beginning of January another Island sailor, Jonny Malbon, sadly had to abandon the race after encountering damage to his sail. We’re sure that Jonny will have been cheering Brian on this morning as he passed the finish line.
