Broken arm for 80 year old woman knocked over by mobility scooter

Police are appealing for witnesses after an 80-year-old woman was knocked over by a mobility scooter in Newport.

The incident occurred at about 11.20am on Saturday, 13 October outside of Monsoon in Newport High Street.

The mobility scooter, being driven by an unknown man, and the woman collided causing the woman to fall to the floor.

A member of the public came to the woman’s aid and along with her friend they helped her off the ground. The woman suffered a broken arm.

The man on the scooter left the scene of the incident and travelled in the direction of Boots.

Police would like to speak to the man about the incident.

He is described as:

  • Very pale complexion
  • Aged in his 70s
  • Grey hair
  • Slim build
  • Wearing a dark coloured hat and a black jacket.

PC Martin Egerton from Newport police station said: “We are trying to establish the details of the incident and would like to speak to the man who was on the mobility scooter as well as the member of the public that assisted the woman following the collision.”
