The Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat was tasked to launch by the Solent Coastguard at 09.58 yesterday morning to a report of a fishing vessel broken down one mile off Yaverland. Two people were reported as being on board.
On arrival at the scene we surveyed the boat and made necessary repairs and got him running again.
We then escorted the vessel as far as Bembridge Ledge and as both parties were happy we returned to station and the fishing vessel made it back to Wootton Creek.
Instant repairs can save time
We find that sometimes if we can get a boat fixed and restarted it saves us time in not having to do long tows and being able to stay in our area for other emergencies, especially as this is our busiest time of the year.
