Island line train

Island Line now out of service for the rest of the day (Update 2)

A broken down train between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin was the original reason given by Island line as to who trains could not run between these stations, first thing this morning.

National Rail originally said this would continue until 10am. This was later updated to mid day. The latest (10:30am) is that it will continue until ‘end of service’.

Updated reason
The reason now given (10:30am) is, “Poor railhead conditions between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin means trains cannot run between Ryde St Johns Road and Shanklin.”

(Poor railhead conditions – This seems to translate to the line being slippery)

Short shuttle service working
The train is still running a shuttle service on the north end of the line, between Ryde Pier Head and Ryde St Johns Road.

For those south of there, Island Line are suggesting that you take the bus.
