Brook History Exhibition This Weekend

There’s a comprehensive exhibition of the history of Brook – and the surrounding areas of Mottistone, Hulverstone and Chessell – on this weekend.

Brook History This WeekendThere’s a mass of information presented well in the Seely Hall on boards with photos and items from the period, helping to set the scene.

While parents are filling their brains with historical facts, the younger visitors will find things to do too. There’s a table by the large front window set up ink pens and wells where Victorian script writing can be attempted as well as other arts projects.

On Sunday, beside the exhibition, there’s a willow workshop, lobster-pot making and guided heritage walks.

This exhibition is all part of an ambition project by the Seely Hall committee, headed by Daphne and Sue, who have been collecting historical facts of the area for the last ten years.

This kind of project is essential from preserving history and it’s great to see the challenge being embraced so heartily with great enthusiasm.
