Labour councillor Alan Hollands has proposed a motion for next week’s full council meeting calling for public toilets that were closed by the last administration to be reopened.
In 2011 the then Cabinet voted to close 27 public toilets across the Isle of Wight. The news was met with outrage by residents and those working in tourism.
That Council resolves to re-open as many of the public toilets as possible closed by the last administration, in recognition that this is a tourist Island with inclusive needs by both visitors and residents.
Sale of closed toilet buildings on hold
Readers will remember that the current administration announced last month that they would call a halt to the sale of any public buildings whilst considering their position.
The full council meeting takes place on Wednesday 19th June from 6pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
