Calling all young Isle of Wight creatives: Exciting paid opportunity on offer

Are you a young creative aged 18 – 30 on the Isle of Wight? Interested in working digitally? 

StoneCrabs invites you to get involved with a very exciting project: 

The Islands That Shape Us is a pilot project developed during the pandemic where we look at digital responses to live theatre. 

They’re are offering a fee of £494 to cover all expenses related to the commission, weekly training and mentoring, and a day’s artistic exchange with other creatives.

Respond to Playdoh: Young Directors Festival 2021
StoneCrabs are commissioning a group of Isle of Wight Young Creatives to respond to Playdoh: Young Directors Festival 2021. The themes for the festival are language, confinement, politics, roots and identity.

You could be an aspiring director, actor, producer or designer. StoneCrabs are excited to experience your artistic response and to mentor you on your creative journey. 

How to apply
You must commit to creating/producing a 5-10 minute long artistic response to the festival’s themes, attending the training/mentoring, producing and promoting the online festival, watching the live stream of the festival, and making sure you are available for the artistic exchange. 

The work will be streamed online and there will be an opportunity for further development after the project is completed.

Key dates
Deadline for applications is 5th August 2021 at 12 noon.

Interviews take place on 7th and 8th August 2021 via Zoom.

Successful candidates are expected to be ready to start the project on 11th August.

  • Are you a writer? Write a short piece, and bring in actors to perform your piece.
  • Are you a director? Direct a short original piece or the extract of an existing piece
  • Are you a designer? Design for a show you would like to make
  • Are you a producer? Learn and grow by taking a producing role in a short digital response.
