Vets for peace

Calling Isle of Wight Veterans: New Action Group in search of Peace

Roger Bartrum shares this appeal. Ed

Veterans for Peace (VFP) started in the USA in 1985 and VFP (UK) was founded in 2011. Members come from all arms of the forces and include male and female veterans.

Our members range from WW2 vets to young Afghan conflict vets and, having dutifully served the nation, we now affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace.

If you are tired of the war machine and would like to work towards peace we would love to hear from you.

Isle of Wight Action Group
I am hoping to start an Action Group on the Island who will meet at least monthly in support of VFP (UK) intent.

Our national aims? To work with others:

  • Toward increasing public awareness of the costs of war
  • To restrain our government from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations
  • To end the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons
  • To seek justice for veterans and victims of war
  • To abolish war as an instrument of national policy
  • To increase awareness of the militarisation of our children through schools, advertising, computer games and the media

Every year on Remembrance Sunday, Veterans For Peace UK walk to The Cenotaph, Whitehall under the banner “Never Again”.
