Camp Bestival Here We Come

If you’re a Bestival lover and once a year just isn’t enough to satisfy your thirst, get a load of this.

Clearly organising the best festival of the year is not enough for those busy bees at Bestival HQ, because they’ve gone and cooked up a whole new festival which will take place during over the weekend of 18, 19, 20 July next year at the wonderfully beautiful setting of Lulworth Cove.

We camped there earlier in the year and can testify that the backdrop to this festival is going to be breathtaking.

Keeping it intimate, just like the first Bestival, they’ll only be selling 10,000 tickets. So what’s it going to be like you ask? Here’s what Robbie has to say.

“I can’t wait to get to Camp Bestival! It’s gonna be a big old family campsite with what we reckon will be the best facilities of any festival from custom furnished tipis and yurts to campfires, maintained barbeques, a massive kids areas and our Bestival Bluecoats on hand 24 hours a day to cater for your every need”¦ and then there’s the music – not so much an afterthought as just one part of the whole shebang. Roll on July!”

Here’s the lowdown …. Inspired by the halcyon days of summers past, imagine the 1950s British Holiday Camp with a twist and you’ll get close to what Camp Bestival is all about. Expect to bask in nostalgia and fits of giggles as the Bestival Bluecoats, with the mighty Miguel from The Cuban Brothers at the helm, lead you on a merry jaunt around the most beautiful site in the world designed by Josie da Bank. Mix in entertainment of the highest order, splendid music, the biggest boutique campsite ever, excellent facilities for the outdoor life and a generous sprinkle of Bestival magic and you’re in our world.

Fun for all the family is top of the Camp Bestival agenda so expect a super Kids Area filled with magic moments and an abundance of neat treats for lil uns of all ages. From a Sports Day on the jousting strip to Story Telling around roaring Campfires, a good ole Cockney Knees Up, Insect Circus, The All Singing Kids Summer Party and dressing up antics, it’ll be a jam packed haven for kids and their parents. Plus Lulworth Castle has its very own Animal Farm where the kids can get up close to their super-friendly animals.

As ever they’ll be a top-notch live music line up programmed by the big daddy himself Rob da Bank (soon to be revealed!). In true Bestival style the music will be diverse and will tickle all taste buds with a Main Stage, the new ‘Tree Stage’, a Balearic Bollywood arena, the Rock n Roll tent and the magnificent Spiegel tent for Come Dancing dance offs. All this plus Comedy, Spoken Word, Theatre in the Woods, Films projected on the Castle Walls, Fireworks and fun on tap!

At Camp Bestival you can stay in luxury and affordable tents, tipis, yurts, bivouacs, airstreams, and gypsy caravans or bring your own world of outdoor living. The facilities are top notch for families with parking right next to the campsites, spacious areas for chilling and playing and the relatively flat landscape means access around the site is easy for mums and wee-uns. Hot showers with tea and toast while you wait will warm your cockles and Giant BBQs, Spit Roasts, Farmers Market and the finest local and famous food stuffs will ensure hearty meals are indulged in. And of course the local WI will be there to attend to your cake and tea needs. So whether you’re dancing your socks off or chilling in Restival you’ll be having the time of your life.
