Can You Identify When This Was?

How did we ever live without Google maps is a thought that flits across our minds from time to time.

Can you identify when this was?The ability to type in a postcode or address and find out the lay of the land is invaluable when trying to navigate to a new destination.

We’re lucky on the Island as the Isle of Wight benefits from some of the most accurate coverage of any area in the UK.

Where many places have to make do with inaccurate satellite photos, you can zoom right in to most of the Island, clearly seeing cars and people.

It also, from time to time, throws up some funny anomalies.

We found one today.

Tune your eyes and brains
Clearly, on the day the photo of this part of the Island was taken, there was an event going on just south of the Military History Museum on the Newport Road. Instead of empty fields there are tons of cars and bit of a shindig going on.

Do you fancy a bit of detective work?

Who knows which event was going on?

What time of year? Month? Day?

If you really want a challenge, which year was it?

No formal prize, just bragging rights.
