Cantina, Ventnor: A great place to stop for lunch

Update: Cantina has now moved in to town and can be found at 20 High Street.

If you’ve been down to Ventnor seafront recently, you might have noticed there’s a new restaurant at the west-end of the bay.

Pasta:Cantina (formerly Marios) has been running for several weeks now and offers a wonderful Italian influenced menu for lunch or dinner.

Bask in the sun on the decking outside or sit by the large windows inside to enjoy the view of Ventnor Bay as you eat. We’ve been down for lunch ourselves and it’s a great place to stop for a fresh and interesting selection of good quality dining.

Delicious sandwiches
If you’re after something light, there’s a great range of delicious-sounding sandwiches; roast beef tomato and taleggio; Italian sausage sandwich; roast vegetable and smoked salmon; roast vine tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, almond pesto or perhaps Tirolean speck, bread, pickles will take your fancy.

For something more substantial try the real baked beans on toast with smoked ham and fried egg or the wild mushrooms options for vegetarian. The beans are slow-baked on the premises, creating a fantastically rich sauce that is well complemented by the fresh local egg.

Range of pasta and pizza
If pasta is more your bag there are plenty of options from a basic fresh tomato sauce to lamb meatballs, ragu Bolognaise, porcini, leeks and cream, crab meat or roast peppers and smoked paprika.

Pizza:If none of the above spark your interest, there is also a range of freshly made pizzas, as well as a Chorizo stew to choose from.

Opening times
Cantina is open daily from 12pm-3pm and 6pm-10pm seven days a week
