Island Roads have warned drivers to avoid using Blackwater Road, Newport this morning.
They have reported a serious road traffic incident outside Scats, which the fire service confirmed involves an overturned vehicle.
It’s believed a car and lorry are involved.
Emergency services are in attendance with fire crews on route.

Island Roads say, “Police have closed Blackwater Shute, Newport due to the RTC. They are allowing traffic out of Newport, but not in.
“Police are directing traffic coming out of Newport through Blackwater Road. Air Ambulance will attend. Please use alternative route”

From Island Roads – A3020 Blackwater Road has been closed between Blackwater junction and Merstone Lane due to a road traffic incident .
The road is likely to remain closed for at least the next 2 to 3 hours.
Diversion Routes:
Newport to Sandown: Staplers Road and Long Lane to Arreton Cross.
Newport to Shanklin: Staplers Road , Long Lane, A3056 Arreton Road and Sandown Road to Blackwater junction.
Diversions for local traffic will be signposted.
