Cash from safe theft handed out to members of the public

Police are appealing for information following the theft of £5,500 from a safe within a property in Newport on Thursday, May 30.

The suspect is believed to have handed out some of the money to members of the public in and around Newport town centre later that day.

Detective Constable Katy Lee of Newport CID said:

“We are interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen a young person handing out money, particularly any shopkeepers who may remember having served any boys aged between 11 and 13 years-old carrying a large amount of £50 notes.”
