Farewell

Cassandra Gardiner: Farewell

Cassandra Gardiner returns with this week’s offering. Guest opinion articles do not necessarily reflect the views of the publication. Ed

Through life we go on hoping progress is made, taking options, choosing a path, although for some their path seems chosen. Questioning the rights and wrongs of issues, situations, people and of course ourselves.

It can be a tiring thought, letting go of the known and perhaps once again feeling alone with a decision made. Moving on, changing the dynamics, scene, company, conversation, the sharing of life with others. Occasionally it can be a disaster, out of the frying pan into the fire, as the old saying goes, will the grass be greener in the pastures anew?

Did we get it right?
Life stages, as we grow wondering have we done well, did we do right or miss out. Early years filled with wants and not knowing, trying to establish ourselves, defining our own space, finding a place in the everyday world. Then through age our questions adjust, adapting to deal with responsibility, the lessening of available time and fulfilling our dreams. Do we ever think or accept we’ve got it right?

Farewell, a reminder of the passing of time, creating gaps as something or someone is no longer within our reach, protection or control. A word activating deep connotations – loss of the familiar, habit, or release and relief – change, often feared.

Bon Voyage?
Perhaps Bon Voyage, sending the warmth of journeys, elements of positive mystery attaching to the future and enjoyability is a better tiding when saying goodbye. Pale blue horizons, glints of gold and a sweet smelling breeze – freeing the anchor, smiles and thoughts float with possibilities…

Thank you to all who’ve taken time to read, comment and enjoy my column. I hope its helped provoke thought and raise spirits. It’s been a pleasure seeing my writings published and realistically a personal challenge to produce a new piece each week on time in a bid to keep my world spinning!
