As the fog slowly moves in dense sheets, enveloping the houses, trees and even the ground, an illusion takes place as the outside world disappears.
What is covered remains, but for the taker who dives into this air of mystery, hidden delights (and terror) arise.
Paradise waiting
Beyond the clouds, in the other world, paradise waits, dainty and beautiful birds fly by, clear waterfalls and springs gurgle then splash, and in the distance a palace glints.
The air is warm and the landscape splendid. What will I find on this journey into the deep white, purity, eternity?
Other worldliness
As the mind wonders and begins to explore, hidden memories surface. Childhood stories of fairies, unicorns and trolls.
Whilst the mist distorts, the light and time feels frozen, this other world of fantasy, grace and happiness takes hold. Suspense heightens, like an ocean of life hidden within the depths, a lack of clarity and daily life out of sight, the fog transforms the view.
An empty sheet of paper
Drifting, like the scene outside my window, I capture and let go of pieces my precious world would contain. Private moments and passions almost seeming lost, eroded by time and function.
Looking out upon blankness, an empty sheet of paper and visually confused, what is there can not be seen. The yearning stirs and for a brief period choice replaces the known with enchantment.
Dreams meld reality with fiction
Distant moments come forth, the imagination is king, changing the world into something magical. Not always clear, but with presence nonetheless, dreams meld reality with fiction, replaying scenarios with heightened detail and unexpected edits. Crystal ball versions of truths and lies.
As the glass clears and the mist lifts, the sun hits the pane and the day breaks. Duties return, time ticking on, reality calls.
