Just a reminder about the Ryde Civic Service tonight, hosted jointly by Ryde Town Council and Churches Together in the Ryde Area.
It starts at 7pm, in Garfield Road Methodist Church, and will focus on the passing of the three middle schools, with contributions from their pupils.
Archdeacon Caroline Baston will say a few words, along with ‘Reflections on Ryde’ by Adrian Searle.
There will also be a ceremonial handing over of the Town Council regalia, from the old Mayor, Cllr Brian Harris, to the new, Cllr David Knowles.
There are displays on Ryde’s past in the church hall from Historic Ryde Society and Ryde Social Heritage Group, where refreshments, sponsored by Hovertravel, will be available.
