Children’s cancer charity gains support from NatWest’s Southern branches

Earlier this month, 17 branches of NatWest along the South Coast came together to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer (formally CLIC Sargent).

Branches from Bognor Regis, Brighton Castle Square, Broadwater, Chichester, Cosham, Fareham, Gosport, Havant, Hedge End, Hove Town Hall, Newport Isle of Wight, Petersfield, Portsmouth Commercial Road, Rustington, Ryde, Shoreham-by-Sea and Worthing South Street.

Milburn: I would like to thank all my supportive colleagues
The idea of holding the charity day was that of Karen Milburn, Senior Personal Banker from NatWest Bank in Gosport.

Karen chose the charity as it is a charity close to her heart.

Karen said,

“I was amazed that we raised £2,147 with more money due including some match funding from the bank. I would like to thank all my supportive colleagues, a special thanks to Jake Hale, the Manager of Fareham and Gosport NatWest Banks and all our fantastic customers along the south coast for their generosity.”

Blunt: 12 children and young people diagnosed every day
Liz Blunt, Senior Fundraising Engagement Manager – South Central, at Young Lives vs Cancer, said,

“On behalf of the charity, I would like to say how much we appreciate this wonderful fundraising to support children and young people with cancer.

“Sadly, every day in this country, 12 children and young people hear the news that they have cancer and we can only provide the support that we do with our social workers and ‘Home from Home’ close by to the specialist hospital in Southampton (catchment area includes the Isle of Wight) thanks to the kindness of others.

“A huge thank you to Karen, Jake and all involved from the NatWest branches. It was great to meet the staff from the Newport Branch on their charity day. It costs our charity £38 a night for a family to stay in Jean’s House, so this huge amount could pay for two families to stay almost a month each there.”
