A children’s play space with a slide, mirror and floor netting could be included in an approved multi-million-pound McDonald’s development on the Isle of Wight.
What’s changed since the original approval
McDonald’s Restaurants has asked County Hall for a variation of conditions attached to planning consent for a restaurant next to Newport Road in Lake, with car parking, landscaping and associated works.
The fast-food giant’s agent, Planware, said the latest application is to allow for minor amendments to the scheme layout, building elevations and drainage.
A play space at the entrance
The play facility has two levels and would be sited next to the building’s entrance.

Planning committee members voted for the original McDonald’s proposal at a meeting last July where economic benefits and Bay Area regeneration were cited as grounds in favour of the development.
How to have your say
Members of the public have until 17th July to comment on the latest application, 26/00712/RVC, which is due to be decided by 12th August 2026.
