A couple of weeks ago someone sent us a link to a video which we found totally amazing.
The short film (a couple of minutes) told the brief story of how in 1969 two men, John Rendall and Ace Berg spotted a lion cub for sale in Harrods and decided to buy it and care for it.
Within a year the cub was far too big for their flat (not surprising), so with some help they released him into the wild in Africa.
A year later they went back to meet the lion and you’ll have to watch the film below to find out what happened.
What is amazing is how effective this viral marketing has been. As we were sitting down to the breakfast this morning, who should appear on the Midweek programme on Radio4 with Libby Purves but John Rendall talking about the 40th anniversary of the event. (of course by writing about this now, we’re extending the viral marketing, but what the heck!)
You can listen again on the BBC R4 Website, but before you do that you should definitely watch the video below.
