Cllr Chris Jarman removed from strategic finance role in Cabinet reshuffle

Cllr Chris Jarman, the Cabinet member for Strategic Finance, Transformational Change and Corporate Resources, has been removed from the Isle of Wight council Cabinet.

The councillor for Totland and Colwell, left the Alliance last week and became leader of a new group of councillors called Empowering Islanders.

Jarman: I presume this takes immediate effect
Cllr Jarman told News OnTheWight,

“I have received the Leader, Cllr Lora Peacey-Wilcox‘s decision this morning NOT to retain me in the Cabinet Finance role. I presume this takes immediate effect.

“Cabinet appointments are hers exclusively under the current Constitution.”

Jarman: A sad day for all
Cllr Jarman, who claimed he was partly responsible for the council’s Pension Fund turning around from -£35m to +£23m in just 11 months, added,

“After two years dedicating myself to the significant financial challenges we face, I am deeply saddened by her decision – which I cannot see as in the best interest of our Council or Island – but I must respect it.

“A sad day for all.”
