Coastguard Warns of Risks for FishermenThe Maritime And Coastguard Agency are sending out a clear message to Fishermen that go out on the water without lifejackets, “Don’t ignore the risks”.

At the Fishing 2010 Expo event which starts today in Glasgow, Fishermen are being warned about the dangers of fishing without a lifejacket.

Shocking statistics the Expert Lifejacket Panel Review found in 13 fatalities involving fishermen, seven might have been saved if the fishermen had been wearing a lifejacket.

Nigel Blazeby, Principal Fishing Vessel Surveyor for the MCA says “This year the MCA stand (C15) will be focusing on the importance of wearing lifejackets on deck and visitors will have the opportunity to try on lifejackets and discuss their merits.
