There’s been a lot of attention – quite rightly – about the number of amenities that are being removed from local communities.
We’ve all heard about Post Offices being closed down, pubs being lost, the trend is worrying.
Michael Chater, chairman of the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has just published an interesting article – Can local people fight back? – about this.
He highlights examples of how, when communities come together, they can stop these things being foisted on them – taking the control of the future of their community into their own hands.
Active local town and parish councils can often be the driver for this.
