Bembridge Village Partnership hosted a Dragon’s Den day on Saturday 14th March at Bembridge Youth & Community Centre where a grant funding pot of up to £2,000 was available to local organisations and community groups working for the benefit of Bembridge.

Eight applications were received and seven had made the final shortlist. The applicants delivered a presentation to the dragons with an audience looking on.

The Dragons
The fearsome Dragons this year were Keith Cook, Cllr Denise Grannum, Steve Simmons and Gail Wade.

The funding pot was allocated by the Dragons between the following applications:

  • Bembridge Primary School Gardening Club £110
  • Bembridge FC £300
  • Bembridge Scouts £500 plus £100 from the Bonus Pot
  • Bembridge Rainbows £120
  • Bembridge Youth FC £250 plus £100 from the Bonus Pot
  • Bembridge in Bloom £200
  • Cloisters Lunch Club £290 plus £50 from the Bonus Pot

David Randini compered the event and entertained the audience with magic tricks.

Cllr Grannum said,

“All the applicants presentations were very professional and hopefully they were pleased with the funds they received. A good evening was had by all.”
