Missing Isle of Wight man found safe and well

Police advise that Prof Rodney Thompson has been found safe and well.


Police are growing concerned for the welfare of Professor Rodney Thompson, who has been missing since early yesterday morning (Sept 27).

Rodney, who suffers with dementia, was last seen leaving Premier Inn at St Pancreas, London at 7.30am. He was on his way to Waterloo train station, to get a train to Portsmouth or Southampton to return to his home on the Isle of Wight.

Police were alerted after Rodney did not arrive home.

Rodney is described as:

  • White man
  • About six feet tall
  • Medium build
  • Fair complexion
  • ‘Mousey’ brown hair, with grey bits
  • Clean shaven
  • He is described as having a distinctive ‘unsteady’ walk

Anyone who has seen Rodney or has any information about his whereabouts is urged to call police on 101 quoting 44150334902.
