Concern for Missing Shanklin Boy: Updated

Update: This boy has been found safe and well.

Police on the Isle of Wight are concerned for a nine year old boy who went missing while on his way home from school.

Matthew Vine was last seen at 5.17pm on Friday, July 2, leaving
Shanklin railway station after getting off the train from Sandown. He was in close proximity to and possibly in the company of an older boy.

Despite extensive land and air searches throughout the night, there have been no further sightings of Matthew.

Matthew is described as:
* White
* Shaved head
* Slim build
* Blue eyes
* He was wearing a blue Sandown Middle School t-shirt and was carrying a blue Umbro bag.

The older boy is described as:
* White
* Aged approximately 16 years old
* He was wearing a white shirt and dark coloured trousers

It is a matter of urgency that police talk to this teenage boy and ask
him to contact them without delay.

Police would also like to talk to any other passenger who was on that
train from Sandown to Shanklin at that time and anyone who may have seen Matthew walking the short distance from Shanklin railway station to his home in Spring Gardens.
