Convenience Store Ramraid: Three Persons Detained By Police (updated – photos)

Thanks to the many readers who got in touch with VB with reports of convenience store ramraids in Totland last night.

Police have confirmed this morning that a stolen vehicle was seen leaving the scene of a ramraid burglary.

The vehicle which failed to stop for Police, drove the wrong way down St George’s Way in the direction of Newport.

Stinger deployed
The car was then sighted 30 minutes later heading to Yarmouth. Three persons were detailed after a stinger was deployed.

We’ve received information from various sources claiming that two convenience stores were ramaraided, but Police were unable to confirm the number to us this morning.

Update 15.40: Having visited Totland this afternoon we were able to to speak to the owner of the convenience store on The Broadway. He confirmed that two shops had been ramraided.

His shop was hit by a car at around 2.15am. The driver was unsuccessful in attempting to break in and then went to the Granville Road store were the front of the shop was ramraided and a couple of bottles of alcohol stolen.
