Muriel Miller has been an Isle of Wight councillor for eleven years and after the sad loss of her husband last year, has decided not to stand in the forthcoming Isle of Wight elections.
When we’ve seen Muriel Miller in action at various committees (such as chairing the scrutiny committee last night), we’ve been impressed with her approach and questioning.
The feeling that you’re left with, as she fights her corner, is that she’s there to represent the people of the Island, not other interests.
Her view is that if you’re a councillor, you’ve got to speak your mind, in her words “You’ve got to know your own mind, as if you don’t, you become a puppy dog.”

Let’s hope that Cllr Miller enjoys the new direction her life is taking and that another, potentially new, councillor takes up her crown.
