A reminder that the Cowes Floating Bridge has now been suspended until Friday 3rd October 2025 for an autumn refit.
Isle of Wight Council has scheduled the 12 day closure to carry out “essential maintenance work” on the vital transport link.
Comprehensive maintenance programme
Engineers will replace the drive chains during the shutdown period. The team will service the guidewheels that help steer the floating bridge across the River Medina.
Workers will change the hydraulic oil as part of the routine maintenance schedule. The crew will also complete remedial works to the prows of the vessel.
Alternative transport arrangements
Isle of Wight Council is providing a replacement launch service for pedestrians and cyclists throughout the closure period.
