Cowes Town Council’s precept for the 2026/27 financial year will remain largely unchanged, reflecting the Council’s ongoing commitment to easing the burden on residents during a period of rising living costs.
Following careful budgeting and a review of planned projects and essential services, the Council has agreed that the annual precept will see a decrease of 89p per annum for a Band D property for 2026/27.
Even with this small decrease the Town Council can continue delivering valued services while keeping local taxation as low as possible.
Ellis: Maintaining strong financial discipline and focusing on efficiency
Mayor of Cowes, Councillor Stuart Ellis, said the decision demonstrates the Council’s dedication to supporting residents:
“We know how important it is to keep costs manageable for households across Cowes.
“By maintaining strong financial discipline and focusing on efficiency, we are able to keep the precept virtually the same as last year while still investing in our community.”
The 2026/27 budget will continue to support key priorities including maintaining and improving public conveniences, supporting local events and ongoing support for voluntary and charitable organisations operating in the town.
Further details about the Council’s budget can be found on the Town Council’s website.
