Graeme shares this latest news from Ventnor Cricket Club. Ed

A fine opening partnership of 120 between Ben Duggan who made an impressive 85 and Ben Herridge (48) provided an excellent base as Ventnor pursued Bashley’s total of 277-7 in the British Gas Southern League Premier Division clash on Saturday.

Unfortunately, once they departed, only Toby Corbin with 34 made a contribution and the innings subsided to 204 all out. Earlier, George Willis was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers with 3-29 while Chris Vaughan hit 107 for the home side.

Third consecutive win for second team
Ventnor’s second team won their third consecutive match to secure their Hampshire League Division 1 status with a 49 run victory over New Milton II at Steephill on Saturday.

Pierre Kriel was the outstanding performer, hitting a blistering, boundary strewn century before departing for splendid 120. Skipper Martin Blackman (61), Tom Leon (40) and Ross Whyte (26) continued in positive vein to lift their side to a challenging total of 294.

The visitors replied in spirited fashion, Arnold hitting an unbeaten 90, but Ventnor ran out comfortable winners, restricting the New Forest side to 245-4.

Rain calls of match
The third team’s Hampshire League Regional Division 3 South match at Railway Triangle II was called off after heavy morning rain in Portsmouth.
