Crime Author Visits The Island To Present Writing Prizes

Crime writer, Pauline Rowson author of the marine mystery series of crime novels featuring Inspector Andy Horton will be presenting prizes to the adult winners of The Wight Fair Writers Circle, Winter Short Story Writing Competition at an Awards Ceremony on 21 December 2010 at The New Church Reception Rooms, Castlehold, Newport.

Two of Pauline Rowson’s novels are set on the Isle of Wight, Blood on the Sand an Inspector Andy Horton novel and her thriller, In For The Kill. In addition, The Suffocating Sea (another Andy Horton crime novel) is also partly based on the Island. From Hayling Island, Pauline Rowson is a regular visitor to the Island where she owns a holiday caravan at Sandhills, Whitecliff Bay.

Background on competition
The competition is organised by the Wight Fair Writers’ Circle.

Proceeds from the competition are going to the Love Russia Charity, The Multiple Sclerosis Society and The Barely Born Appeal.

Prizes have been donated by many businesses on the Isle of Wight and the mainland of Portsmouth and Southampton and one of the winners of the under 12’s and teenage category will have their story published here on VentnorBlog as well as in the County Press.

Pauline Rowson says, ‘I’m very honoured to have been asked to present the prizes to the adult category of the competition. I’m looking forward to meeting all the winners and their guests at the Awards ceremony.’

Island writer also presenting prizes
Island based writer, Wendy K. Harris author of The Undercliff Novels, which are also based on the Island will present prizes to the teenage section of writers and author Diana Kimpton who also lives on the Island and is famous for her Amy Wild and Princess Ellie books, will give the awards to the winners of the children’s category.

Pauline Rowson will also be giving a short talk about her crime novels and will be available to sign copies of her books as will Wendy Harris and Diana Kimpton.
