Crime & Intrigue Short Story Writing Comp: Deadline Closed

Congratulations to everyone who entered the Wight Fair Writers’ Circle Crime And Intrigue Short Story Writing Competition.

Organisers tell VB that they’ve had a record number of entries this year, with half of entries coming from boys in the under 18s category.

All money raised from the competition will be going to the Isle of Wight Homeless and Love Russia , both worthy Island based charities.

Entries have now gone off to the judges who will work their way through the crime and intrigue stories before the awards ceremony.

Awards ceremony
Prizes will be presented at Newport Minster on 20th June, with High Sheriff, Suzie Sheldon and members of the council in attendance. Doors open at 6pm and the ceremony will start at 7pm promptly.

We understand that there will be a mock crime scene staged by the Isle Of Wight Police to peruse, and officers on hand to talk to you about it. There’ll also be crime fiction authors to offer their experience of writing and publishing crime fiction.

Refreshments will be served by ladies from Newport Minster and the proceeds of this will go to the Minster funds.

As if this was all not enough, there’ll also be live music by Island band, Lego.
