Culver Cliff death: Thought to be pensioner

Police are now satisfied that they know the identity of the man whose body was found on rocks at the foot of Culver Cliffs near Bembridge on the Isle of Wight yesterday afternoon (Saturday, July 13).

He is believed to be a local man in his 70s, but we’re not in a position to release his details yet.

There are no suspicious circumstances.

It is believed that the body had been position on the rocks for just a few hours at the time he was found but the full circumstances are still being confirmed through ongoing investigation.

A car belonging to the man was found in a car park near by.

Were you a witness?
At this stage, we are yet to locate any witnesses and officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man in his 70s entering the fenced-off area at the top of the cliff sometime after 10.30am yesterday morning
