Currys Donate Kit to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Big cheers all round for Currys Superstore in Newport here on the Isle of Wight.

Currys Donate Kit to Neonatal Intensive Care UnitDon’t worry, they haven’t diversified and starting producing medical equipment, but have in fact donated a handful of new electrical items for the benefit of relatives of babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

If you’ve any experience of having relatives being cared for in NICU, you’ll know that you can spend many long periods waiting around for baby to wake and be fed.

Fire damages TV and radios
Unfortunately last year a small fire damaged several electrical items and so Currys has stepped forward and donated a new TV for the waiting room and three radios.

The radios are kept in the cot areas to provide a soothing and calm environment for the babies, relatives and staff on the Unit (we wonder what radio station they choose).

Pamela George, NICU Sister at NHS Isle of Wight, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the generous donation of a television and radios from Currys. These items will directly benefit the families of our babies here on the unit, helping to make their time on the unit that bit more comfortable.”

Shane Chessell, Deputy Manager of Currys, added: “After receiving a letter from the Neonatal Unit staff, we were only too happy to donate these items and know that they will be put to good use.”
