Dan Damage Memorial Gig and Book Launch

If you’ve already seen Hedgehogs and Honeybeads and fancy getting out of town on Friday night – make your way up to Ryde for the Dan Damage Ball and book launch.

Dan Damage Memorial GigFor those of you who didn’t know him (and that includes me) Dan was a highly respected music promoter on the island before he tragically died in 2004. His sister, Anne, has managed to gather together, with the help of bands and friends, a collection of memories, photos and stories about Dan’s life and how he influenced the music scene here on the Isle of Wight.

Tomorrow night (Friday) his life will be celebrated at Ryde Theatre with a fantastic array of bands, Capo Regime, Delta-T, Godfenzy, Chokehold (typed that as Chickhold first – but actually they might prefer that), Kody, Screaming Phoenix, Carousel Era, None of the Above and more who they’re keeping secret (unless it’s a band called More).

You can read an excerpt from ‘Dans Book’, written by his sister Anna, in his memory (kindly hosted on Wightvibe).

If you’re not able to go along to the gig, you can still buy the book – which would be a great thing to do, as the proceeds go to a couple of superb charities, MENCAP and The Jamming Dodgers Music Club. The man was a legend and will never be forgotten by those who knew him. That much is clear.
