Milky Way over Steephill Cove

All welcome to Isle of Wight Dark Sky initiative launch tonight

A reminder that all are welcome to attend tonight’s Vectis Astronomical Society (VAS) monthly meeting, where they will be officially launching the Isle of Wight Dark Sky Initiative.

Bob Mizon – a senior member of the British Astronomical Association and Campaign for Dark Skies, and Martin Morgan-Taylor – board member of the International Dark Skies Association will give a presentation entitled “Dark Skies – Dark Future?”

This will be followed by a short presentation outlining details of the VAS application for International Dark Sky Status for the Isle of Wight

For more information about the bid for Dark Skies Status see last week’s report from Brian Curd.

If you’d like to attend the launch of the initiative, it takes place at Newport Parish Church Centre, Town Lane from 7.15 pm tonight (Friday 24th May).
