Datum Electronics wins prestigious national award for pushing decarbonisation in maritime industry

Local electronics firm, Datum Electronics celebrated national success recently at the Maritime UK Awards held at the Double Tree by Hilton in Hull. The company was awarded the Clean Maritime Enabler award, sponsored by maritime classification society, Lloyd’s Register.

The award was given to the company in recognition of their innovative products and services that are working towards a clean and sustainable future in the marine industry. In particular, their latest hardware and software innovation around Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index otherwise known as EEXI.

The award was presented to members of the team by Lloyds Register in front of Maritime UK’s Patron, HRH The Princess Royal and 600+ industry colleagues and partners in government, all attending in celebration of the wonderful world of maritime and the fantastic progress being made by organisations across the sector in support of Maritime 2050.

Chief Financial Controller, Michael Irons stated,

 “I am elated both personally and on behalf of the team at Datum to have received this award. We have made great efforts in recent years to design, build and deliver innovative products to assist in the push for decarbonisation of the maritime industry.

“This award is a testament to our team’s efforts, I cannot thank them enough for their dedication and hard work, as ultimately this accolade is recognition for their achievements.”

This award follows a flurry of award successes for the firm, locally and regionally at the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce Awards as well as the Maritime UK Solent Awards, where they celebrated winning innovation and employer of the year awards.
