There’s been a further development in the ‘What the heck is happening in Andrew Turner’s re-election campaign team?’ soap opera, that seems to change daily.
It’s not the news from earlier today, that Andrew Turner’s election agent has accused IW Conservative Chairman of ‘lying’, but more.
First a quick recap:
Recap
A couple of weeks ago, OnTheWight asked the question of whether former Isle of Wight Conservative MP, Andrew Turner, had lost another election agent.
Questions arose after David Walter‘s Imprint disappeared from the KeepAndrew2015 election Website and his Twitter bio – “Proud to be a Conservative — Andrew Turner’s Election Agent” – suddenly vanished.
Denied by David Walter
The two events happening at the same time led many on social media to speculate if David Walter had either resigned as Agent or was pushed.
After some while he later denied that he was no longer the Agent. Mr Turner told the CP, “The agent’s imprint is not required on the website and as it is being updated by people other than the agent, it was decided to take it off.”
Walter: “Because the law does not allow me to resign”
It has come to light today that David Walter did as many had suspected, wish to step down as Agent, but couldn’t.
In the email David Walter has sent to the Leader of the Isle of Wight council where he was accusing Cllr Ian Ward of lying to him, David signed off,
J. David Walter
Election Agent to Andrew Turner (because the law does not allow me to resign
OnTheWight asked David Walter for a comment, but he declined and then went on to accuse us of harassment.
He was slightly more free with the CP, to which he said, “I am not allowed to resign. I would like to resign but I can’t.” He then declined to comment further on why he wanted to quit.
