Further to the release earlier in the week of the amount of drugs seized at UK Festivals, showing the Island’s festivals topping the list for three out of the four years, here’s a follow up with the details.
From the reaction of readers, we thought you might be interested in seeing all of the details of the quantities of the drugs seized at Bestival and the Isle of Wight Festival as well as their perceived street value.
We’ve put them all into a two tables, accessible below through the tabs at the bottom of the table. The first shows the estimated street value, the second the quantity – measured primarily in grams or number of pills.
Cannabis, MDMA and Cocaine, followed by Piperazine were the largest in quantity. In value terms, the Cocaine and MDMA were highest.
2011 saw huge drop
The table clearly shows a considerable downturn in the amount of drugs seized at Island Festivals in 2011 with the value from that year dropping by nearly two thirds from 2010; nearly three quarters against the 2009’s haul and over half of 2008.
The figures from 2011 is the year that the County Press has chosen to focus on in their report, which as you can see from the figures in the previous VB report, was the first year of the four where both of the Island’s festivals didn’t have the highest drug seizures in the UK.
