Isle of Wight council are excited to announce a major investment in Dinosaur Isle Museum.
To ensure the long-term care of this nationally important fossil collection, the museum will temporarily close for essential repairs and upgrades.
Closure Dates
Dinosaur Isle will be closed from the beginning of September 2025, reopening in January 2026.
This vital project, which includes a new roof, new lighting, and the installation of heating and air conditioning, is made possible by a significant £498,000 grant from Arts Council England’s Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND), with a further £180,000 contribution from the Isle of Wight council.
This investment will help preserve the 130-million-year story of the Island for generations to come.
Plan your visit
There’s still time to see the dinosaurs before our temporary closure. Dinosaur Isle is open daily throughout August from 9.30am to 5pm (last admission at 4pm).
During the closure, staff will still be available to answer enquiries via email at [email protected] or by telephone on 01983 404344.
