The Isle of Wight council has today (Tuesday) released a map showing the diversion route for drivers travelling between Newport and Cowes during the upcoming roadworks at Horsebridge Hill.
A second map will follow shortly, giving more detail about the area immediately around the works.
Roadworks to begin mid-May
The temporary diversion will come into effect on Monday 12th May and will remain in place until Friday 4 July.
To ease congestion during the Isle of Wight Festival, the council will pause the works and reopen the road in both directions for the duration of the event.
Priority access for buses and emergency services
Local buses will be able to pass through the roadworks in both directions while they are in place.
A crew member will remain onsite to ensure buses can get through safely and on time, helping commuters and schoolchildren — particularly those sitting exams — to reach their destinations.
Emergency services will also have full access to the road throughout the works.
Updates and information available online
The Isle of Wight council say they will work closely with developers to keep residents updated as the works progress.
It will share any changes to the arrangements through media statements and its social media channels.
The council is also preparing a question-and-answer section that will appear on its website, with links shared online to help the public stay informed.
