If you were planning to pop along to the walk-in vaccination session today at East Cowes Fire Station, you’ll need to change your plans.
Walk-in sessions were advertised as being available until 6pm today (Thursday), but the 200 doses of the vaccine have now been spoken for.
According to the ward councillor, Karl Love, tickets for the 200 doses that had been allocated for the walk-in session, went within the first 35 minutes of opening.
Residents are being advised to not join the queue
Cllr Love told News OnTheWight,
“It’s quite disappointing that in a community with 8,000 residents, only 200 doses of the vaccine are available to this walk-in session.
“Especially when I’ve seen people coming in taxis and waiting in the queues in wheelchairs.”
He added,
“There will be other opportunities to attend walk-in vaccine sessions, but it seems a gamble as to whether you are able to receive it unless you arrive very, very early.
“Whilst I think it’s a good idea to operate walk-in sessions they must be able to cope with the numbers of people that might arrive and join the queue, which is very slow in moving today as well.”
